The White House has acknowledged recycling its backup computer tapes of e-mail before October 2003, raising the possibility that many electronic messages — including those pertaining to the CIA leak case — have been taped over and are gone forever.
Rosemary Woods, you were a piker compared to these folks.
This is criminal and they will get away with it once again...aarrgggh!
One year left, one year left...
Oi, I agree completely TJG. The only thing is I'm really doubting much will change in one year and beyond.
When these thugs and nazis finally break all appearances, trash all liberties, the public will wake up to a police state and class dictatorship, the essence of corporate and imperial fascism, much like the corporate fascist state under Hitler and Mussolini, because the democrats appeased this criminality, by failing to support impechment and trials.
We have nazi judges ruling that tortured detainees cannot sue because they are not "human", not "persons". Sieg Heil to these criminal class elites.
did anyone expect them NOT to destroy evidence?
...sigh...
Ah...but they didn't destroy all the evidence. See, they still have a lot of backup tapes left. Just not any of the ones with anything you want.
Exactly, Celestina. They're good for that...deciding which laws apply to them, and all.
How long will it take before countries like Canada just list us as a rogue terrorist state?
naked criminal behavior, and once again the cowed congress will let him get away with it.
recycling its backup computer
Maybe thats the way the White House looks at "Going Green" Hey lets recycle !
Good idea ...
Let's recycle them.... Could use the fertilizer...
The issue is courage...or, rather, the lack of it. I had began to have a flicker of hope in the Democratic party, that they might have the intestinal fortitude to stand up to Emperor Bush and do something to stop the empire he has began to build. Turns out they're all spineless, as well. Silly me. I forgot for a moment that they are all politicians. That makes them untrustworthy by definition.
"But I would use the ring for good..."
Time for the Dems to suck it up and get some Hobbit courage. Leave the Ring of Power to the Mordor crowd.
Imagine what Republicans would be saying if this were a Democratic administration, with a Democratic controlled congress. Imagine. Just look how long they talked about lying about Monica Lewinsky. This whole 7 years has been tragic. But it's good in one sense; hopefully the American people will learn from it.
luckily for us.. it did happen and they did what you expected of them.. takes a bit of searching but there are quite a few people outraged at the felony destruction of emails that liberal media let gore get away with as they never would have done with nixon.
Think Payton has an "informal" pardon in his pocket? If so better get this over with before the Office changes hands.
I just wrote a long piece at About ... credit to you for tip. :)
More on this sordid mess ... a minutes-before-midnight filing Tuesday by the White House in response to a "you have five days to cough up some answers" directive from a District Court Judge ... and the result is more "we don't know if mails are missing or not" ... WTH have they been doing since 2005 when the first White House internal assessment of back up servers said that there were days w/out any mail?!?
There is a much MUCH more detailed piece in the WaPo ... I also have quotes from CREW's website. There is also a different AP version than your seed. Did anyone see the Newsvine wire story?
I see an excellent opportunity for the administration to tout this particular snafu as evidence of the evils of recycling and conservation. When you think about it they're really the victims of liberal superstition.
Karl Rove ain't got @!$%# on me.

Here's a follow-up: Missing e-mail: We've Been Down This Road Before
Recaps prior issues with Clinton White House email and Iran-Contra-related email. Concludes with call for felony charge at the presidential level if this ever happens again because of deliberate decisions to fail to maintain records.
Actually reminds me as much of Enron as Nixon.
