Was the War in Georgia a Neocon Election Ploy? PNAC Hack Who Promoted Iraq War at McCain's Elbow

advertisement

Is it possible that this time the October surprise was tried in August, and that the garbage issue of brave little Georgia struggling for its survival from the grasp of the Russian bear was stoked to influence the U.S. presidential election?

Before you dismiss that possibility, consider the role of one Randy Scheunemann, for four years a paid lobbyist for the Georgian government who ended his official lobbying connection only in March, months after he became Republican presidential candidate John McCain's senior foreign policy adviser.

Previously, Scheunemann was best known as one of the neoconservatives who engineered the war in Iraq when he was a director of the Project for a New American Century. It was Scheunemann who, after working on the McCain 2000 presidential campaign, headed the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq, which championed the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

For those Newsviners who protest "the neocons are gone" please reference this article for a good analysis of how Georgia's plight may be just a prop in their plot to twist America's fear addiction into a tool for McCain. You wonder why he's been acting so smug? Wonder no more.

The Republicans have been wagging the dog on us for years - and the media is as happy as a lark lapping it all up. We've been had - again. The only question is whether Putin is in on it or whether he's a patsy.

very interestign and yeah it was one of my first thoughts.. (Which is amazing to me...but not so much after 7 years of bush) but if it was a ploy, it back fired badly. as obama's poll numbers has risen since the attack.(not much admittedly but they went up.. especially among independents)..

a coupel other things of interest about this
anyone else think it was odd mccain was visiting columbia when we rescued/paid for those hostages to be released? freeing hostages who else does that bring to mind?(even if falsely.. damn that machine)

notice also last week or so most were makign fun of the naive mccain and his remark about removing russia from the g-8... it seems so meaningless and foolish..a nd he was pretty much roundly put down for the remarks..after all russia is part of the un security council and that accually does something , where as the g-8 is more of a forum. And it's not like russia is our cold war enemyes anymore wand with mccain going on about the former checs as if that country stille xists many of us wonderd about old mccain... All of a sudden we have this attack and mccain is back with his g-8, stuff.. this tiem with a little more weight behind him.
Russia response to the threat.. was basically "who cares go ahead.. it's meaningless.. I you dotn want diplomatic relations fine with us."
I don't know but while I think the whole thing back fired if it was a neocon ploy.. it did however play right into mccains contempory speaches.

You may be Correct. Bush and Cheney did the same with the Iraq War. Heaven helps America if McCain is elected. There will be a Multitude of Wars,Deception and Lies.

My sister advance this theory, when the Georgian/Russia conflict started. She told me that she suspects this War was provoked by Georgia to give McCain an advantage. I thought it was a wild theory and said "Uhm". She may be right on the button.

McSame would be just another front for corporatists. Hopefully people wake up to this.

I am really concerned. Instigating a War (with deaths, destruction and all the associated hardships) to gain political advantage. Even though there is a connection (friendship and lobbyist) between the Georgian President and McCain, I can't believe a politician would have sunk that low.

These are people who have absolutely no regard for democratic processes. To them, we are the little people to be twisted around their fingers with lies, hate and fear.

        you wouldn't believe... really?

I'm still surprised no one is addressing that Georgia attacked first in the MSM. I left a question similar to this on the Chuck Discussion. This is really sick to think of how conveniently it fits in with Mccain/party's pro-war attitude and Mccain's supposed strengths.

It's all about using war as a driver for corporate profits and mind control.

This is what is wrong with you guys, always thinking somebody is starting a war to get an advantage. The Iraq war was started before Pres. Bush Jr. was in office. And don't forget the fact that Cliton wanted to take out Saddum too. So if McCain is trying to start a war, well them Obama through Nancy Pelosi is make gas prices rise through the pump for policical gain.

So you're suggesting that people start wars NOT to get an advantage? Hmm, I'll bear that great insight in mind...

The Iraq war was started before Pres. Bush Jr. was in office. And don't forget the fact that Cliton wanted to take out Saddum too.

Hmmm, so now it's everyone else's fault except the bonehead who asked people to go to war based on a lie that we went to war in Iraq in 2003. I would agree that this has been a long-term situation, but Bush and Cheney pushed to go to war for two years. There was not pressing need and they invented one.

So if McCain is trying to start a war, well them Obama through Nancy Pelosi is make gas prices rise through the pump for policical gain.

Waiter, I think that this fellow needs his reality check, now...

This is just the beginning of warmongering that the McCain campaign will use to gain power. Absolutely every lie, illusion, smear, bullying, threat, fearmongering and warmongering will be used for McCain to gain power. Their goal is to eliminate democracy as we know it, so they have no motivation not to do so.

We had enough of these neocons. A superpower and some European countries are being manipulated by these aggressive Jewish American or Canadian or English elites. USA is a constituonal country based on free elections if the issues of War and Peace are manipulated so easily, by external lobbies, we are in a mud of lies and wars created by the need of other governments.

I didn't have time to read "The Israeli Lobby" book, written by two respected Chicago University conservative! professors but it seems it is a must now to understand how a small country like Israel and their powerful, rich lobby can infiltrate effect the power and decisions of superpower is terribly dangerous.

There are some stains on the Iraqi war. If it continues at other regions it is time to take action.

Unfortunately the best Jewish American minds like Prof. Norman Finkelstein whose parent during holocaust suffered and other progressive Jews were attacked by this lobby or AIPAC or Neocons or the best term Neo Nazis who loves war to gain upper hand, and serve another country.
