Poking around in social media sites I came across a page for PUMA, an anonymously sponoreed 527 political action committee that is listed at ClintonDemocrats as a "friendly blog." Notably the Clinton Democrats site also uses the image of a Puma to a site called "Just Say No Deal" which claims to be "putting country before party" - with no accountability to any organization but lots of links to pro-Clinton Web sites and blogs.
The PUMA site is especially sad, with posts such as "Many Now Terrified of New Puma Menace" and graphics that suggest that if you're attacked by a PUMA you should offer your children to them and escape quietly. The site is unashamedly anti-Obama, but also obviously aimed at formerly pro-Clinton political operatives such as Donna Brazile and at the Democratic Nation Committee, which has eased out many pro-Clinton operatives such as Terry McAuliffe. Their objective appears to make as much of a ruckus as possible and to turn the Democratic Convention into a divisive affair if they don't get what they want - whatever that might be. I wouldn't rule out that this and other sites linked to and from this site are Republican plants - domain names for these sites are registered to the same agent in Arizona, don'tcha know. But I think that it's also perhaps a situation where perhaps some friends of Bill Clinton are not totally unsympathetic to this effort.
The following is a comment that I left on one of their particularly non-endearing posts - which of course was not posted. More than 800 comments from Clinton "dittoheads" but not one from someone with a different point of view. I can see that these people are really committed to democracy. Anyway, since PUMA is afraid of a little ol' comment, I thought that I'd share it with you:
I haven't seen such butt-sucking, blood-sucking divisiveness since Mayor Daley almost brought down the party in 1968.
It's hard for me to know what motivates this self-adoring group beyond the fear of losing their hold on the state and federal political machine.
Which to me says you're afraid of your corporate friends losing their grip on the state and federal political machine.
As seen in New Hampshire, Ohio, Texas, Pennsylvania and I am sure other places of which I am not aware Clinton democrats don't care about democracy. They care about fixing elections so that their little cadre of elites can keep their hands in the till of corruption a little bit longer.
This isn't about sexism.
This isn't about racism.
This isn't about the DNC or even the Democrats.
Ultimately, this isn't even about the White House.
It's about a brand of politics practiced by those who are more interested about their personal interests than about the last, best shot we have of saving what little we have of a democracy in this nation.
You are cowards. You can't even come out and appoint yourself a real leader. You hide behind false names so that your falseness will not be exposed for what it is.
You are the old machine. You are the status quo. You are the self-righteous, self-serving Democratic politicians who have disgusted me at the state level for years - yanking the same old chains rather than actually doing things for people who need them done desperately. You play the same fear cards as Republicans, you just have a different face on them.
You will be stopped. You must be stopped. You have no rhyme or reason other than your own vindictiveness and self-interest.
You bet on a horse and you lost. And you would rather put your own sore butts in people's faces than recognize that your lust for power means nothing in the face of the real threats to our nation.
Shame on you. You make me sick to be a Democrat.
Anyhow, hope that you enjoy that. The old corporatist Democratic Leadership Council machine - the one that brought you the sickening victory of Joe Lieberman against the Democratic Party's own candidate - is ticked off that their good ol' boy Bill is no longer the straw that stirs the drink. Tough. Please sober up, grow up and start doing things that will help our nation move forward.
